OLD KING COLE, one time resident of Woolsery and lover of silly jokes had to get married. No... it wasn't because of that! It was so that he could inherit his Great Aunt Kylie's money. When the Baddie, Baron Badstoff, found out, he planned to get one of his ugly daughters, Fateema, married to the King instead. No one, of course would marry such an ugly woman so he kidnapped the beautiful Mary the Milkmaid and her cow, Daisy, and threatened to turn the animal into burgers if Mary didn't help him. What could she do? She had to reluctantly comply with his wishes! Oh dear! The Baddie introduced Mary to the King as his niece and the King immediately fell in love with her and wanted to marry her. (Well who wouldn't, eh, Gavin?) Later on, the Baddie stole the King's glasses so that he would not notice when he switched Mary for the ugliest of his daughters on the day of the wedding. Luckily for Mary and Daisy, Billy Bumble, the village hero had planted some spies in the audience and they told him what was going on (well, some of them did, a lot of them had fallen asleep, poor things and didn't have a clue - it was a good job Billy had read the script!)
Anyway, Billy was able to rescue Mary and Daisy and turned up just before ceremony started. Phew! that was close. Mary and Daisy were able to tell the King what really happened. Then the King met Mother Bumble who loved telling silly jokes. He immediately proposed marriage to her and she accepted. (Well you would at her age, wouldn't you?)
Then Billy asked Mary to marry him and she said 'yes' and they all lived happily ever after. (Except for Daisy who ended her days in the Barton Farm Shop freezer (Daisy-burgers £1.00 each) Well, you can't waste good beef these days and she had outlived her usefulness.
We hope you enjoyed the show. The photos below are reminder of why you shouldn't have bothered going. There should be a DVD out sometime soon watch this space for more details.
